Ms. Chhail Khalsa, an alumna of the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad (B.Des Textile design) and Hochschule Luzern, Switzerland (MA Textile Design). Even though she is a textile designer by education, she has always known she wanted more. She finds joy and exhilaration in challenging projects.

Her entrepreneurial brainchild ‘Anuvad’ (meaning: translation in Hindi), is a combination of her two very true passions ‘traditional crafts’ and ‘innovative textiles’ through design research. She started ‘Anuvad’, out of her own curiosity and savings in 2016, and eventually turned it into a Master thesis project when she needed to push forward more. This project was received very positively with a lot of awards and recognitions and is now on its way to becoming a full-fledged startup. She endeavors to translate crafts through technology to create meaningful, human, and uncomplicated e-textile products.

Textiles, as far as inventions go, are as old as the wheel and the fire; only that they are much less publicized. The world of textiles is a dynamic place and it is in this world of woven threads, that she is trying to weave a pattern, distinctly her own.

Having extensively worked internationally, she enjoys working with cross-cultural subjects. Personally, she enjoys long conversations over chai, cooking, exploring new cuisines and cultures, and learning new languages. Currently, she speaks 6, including German. She is intrigued by people, human psychology, philosophy, and life in general.
